Daniel DawsonDaniel Dawson creates a compelling view of tap dance through history and its significant impact on contemporary culture, theater, dance, music and social attitudes. Mr. Dawson has engaged Tapology audiences both young and old with stories and images that bring history to life. His extensive knowledge of tap and its cultural roots along with his ability to connect past and present leave audiences thinking more critically about art and its influence on our daily lives.

Tapology: The study of tap dance, its history and its impact on contemporary life, art and entertainment.

Tapologist: A master tap dancer, who contributes to the future of Tap Dance as an art form, setting an example by maintaining performance excellence, and educating the public about the rich history and culture of the dance.

 

Tap Facts

Harold Cromer performed with the Inkspots, a popular black vocal group and predecessor of rhythm & blues and rock and roll, and the subgenre doo-wop, at Regal Theatre in Chicago, Nov 8, 1942.
