Festival Components: Tapology Email: How to White List Tapology to Get Dance Festival Mail
n.
A whitelist is a list of accepted items or persons in a set…. a list of e-mail addresses or domain names from which an e-mail blocking program will allow messages to be received.
Why is this important?
Unsolicited, unwanted advertising e-mail, commonly known as "spam", has become a big problem. It's reached such proportions that most e-mail services and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have put some sort of blocking or filtering system in place or begun relying on self-proclaimed blacklists to tell the good guys from the bad.
We at Tapology applaud their intention to protect you from spam, but everyone agrees that the current systems for stopping spam are far from a perfect solution. They often block e-mail that you've requested, but that fits somebody's idea of what spam looks like. The more responsible anti-spam activists are working hard to cut down on these "false positives", but in the mean time, you might unexpectedly find you're not getting your Tapology mail…
As it happens, there's something you can do to keep your Tapology mail from falling into the false positive trap. You can fight the blacklists with a "white-list". White-list us now, before your delivery is interrupted.
Of course, every e-mail system is different. Below are instructions for some of the more popular ones. If yours isn't here, please contact your ISP's customer service folks for their instructions. (Forward the answer to us, and we might add it!) If you're using some sort of spam filtering or blocking software yourself (in addition to what your ISP provides), we've also listed instructions on how to exempt your Tapology mail from some of the more popular of those programs.
To find instructions for your e-mail provider or software, read on...

Festival Components: Harold Cromer - 2008 Living Legends Awardee
Harold Cromer
Roller Skating Tap Dancer from Hell's Kitchen!
"As a kid in the late 1920s in Hell's Kitchen," Harold Cromer recalls, "my twin sister and I used to go to the Chelsea Theatre on 8th Ave., where I saw the great Bill Robinson tap dancing. As kids, we were all playing hockey out in the street on roller skates. While I was roller skating and playing hockey, flashbacks of Robinson would come to me, and there I was, trying to emulate him on roller skates—and not falling down, either!"
Cromer's roller-skating routine became his trademark, bringing him steady exposure in theater, vaudeville and films during the 1930s and 40s. His period of greatest success came during the early 1950s, after he joined forces with another gifted dancer, James Cross, and became a member of the comedy team "Stump and Stumpy." The pair worked steadily in theaters and nightclubs (often on bills with the likes of Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra), as well as on television programs such as The Milton Berle Show.
During these years, Stump and Stumpy inspired a generation of young comedians—including Jerry Lewis, who has publicly cited their influence.
