The Tapology Concert is the tap dance extravaganza featuring tap in all its forms.

Tapology features the hottest names in contemporary tap and some of the most important artists to have graced an American stage in the past 80 years!

The Tapology Concert features: Tap, African, Jazz and Step dance, showcasing the wide variety of percussive dance styles popular in performance today.

Don’t miss the hottest concert of the fall showcasing the talents of Festival Honoree, David Gilmore and dancers Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, Mable Lee, Kendrick Jones, Cartier Williams – Broadway and International stage performers - have been exciting audiences for more than 70 years with their irrepressible style, personality and showmanship.

A new and upcoming generation of dance artists including Michela Lerman, Lisa LaTouche, Maurice Chestnut, Brian McCollum, Flint natives Natasha Graham, Quynn Johnson and the Bradley’s- Bruce, Frances and Cherisse – who have been setting the entertainment world on fire with their new interpretations of this indigenous American Art form.

This jam packed concert goes further with performances by Tapology’s Youth Ensemble. The group of students will perform original numbers choreographed for them by guest artists Kendrick Jones, Frances Bradley, Maurice Chestnut and Brian McCollum.

Tapology Concert is an annual tradition of the Tapology Dance Festival for Youth, which offers tap workshops taught by world renowned concert artists from October 28th to October 30th, and is hosted by FIM and Flint’s Cultural Center. The concert’s major sponsor is Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

Tapology works with youth throughout the State of Michigan year round to nurture creative talents in young people and provide opportunities for them to develop, build resume’s and launch their own career in the arts.

Choosing a session

Fast Beginner
Student should have at least six months basic tap.

Intermediate
Student must have a strong foundation of tap technique with a solid understanding of syncopated rhythm possibilities.

Advanced
Students must have a strong background with varied experience in styles, structure and footwork.

*Adjustments may be made to schedule during festival.
